My mentee presented our research at the Malone Symposium.
December 08, 2025
Over the past year, I had the opportunity to advise Taliyah Huang on a project investigating humans’ ability to perceive damping using visual observation alone. She presented this work at the the 9th Annual Johns Hopkins Research Symposium on Engineering in Healthcare, “Human + AI: Redefining the Standard of Care in Medicine. Taliyah did an outstanding job communicating complex ideas with clarity and confidence, and it was exciting to see her represent our work so well. The feedback we received was incredibly encouraging, and I’m looking forward to pushing this project toward publication so we can share the findings with the broader community.
Attended the 2025 Conference on Neural Engineering (NER).
November 12, 2025
I attended the 2025 Conference on Neural Engineering (NER) in San Diego, where I presented my paper, “SenseMatch: Smartphone‐Based Cross‐Modal Matching for Accessible Perceptual Assessments,” highlighting a scalable approach to perceptual assessment using everyday mobile devices.
Advised two Summer REU Students!
July 31, 2025
Over the course of the summer, I had the opportunity to advise Jay Childs (Howard University) and Caly Ferguson (UMBC) on a project in which they designed and built an elbow exoskeleton to advance my research on impedance perception. It was an honor to work with such talented young researchers, and I’m excited to see where their paths lead next. Whatever they pursue, I know they’ll do great things!
Attended the 2025 Summer School for Neurorehabilitation (SSNR).
June 11, 2025
I attended the the 2025 Summer School for Neurorehabilitation (SSNR) in baiona, Spain! I got to present my work “The Study of Dexterous Hand Manipulation: A Synergy-Based Complexity Index” and “Role of path information in visual perception of joint stiffness” and connected with an amazing group of researchers while exploring the beautiful countryside.
Attended the 2025 International Consortium for Rehabilitation Robotics (ICORR).
May 14, 2025
I attended the 2025 International Consortium for Rehabilitation Robotics (ICORR) in Chicago. Federico Tessari presented our paper titled “A Geometric Approach for the Comparison of Kinematic Synergy Postures”. Anway Pimpalkar presented our paper titled “Optimizing Cross-Modal Matching for Multimodal Motor Rehabilitation”. This paper was a finalist for best paper award!
Taught my first course!
May 08, 2025
Over the course of the semester, I served as a Co-Instructor for 530.343: Design and Analysis of Dynamical Systems in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins. This was my first time serving as a Co-Instructor, and I loved it. Teaching dynamical systems, and watching students have those “it clicks” moments, has quickly become one of my favorite parts of academic life. I truly enjoy teaching!
